The Cessna Caravan is a utility aircraft under the Light Aircraft section.

Overview

The Cessna Caravan is a utility aircraft with several seats. It is larger than the Cessna 182 and it is used beyond civilian purposes, such as for cargo and even commuter airlines. It is excellent for role-play, and also acts as a beginner's plane. It also has a skydiving variant, the Cessna Caravan Skydiving.

Seaplane

The Cessna Caravan Amphibian is a Seaplane added in the Seaplane Update. It has 2 floats on either side of the aircraft with the landing gear in the front. It is the fastest seaplane in the game, with a top speed of 186 kts.

The Cessna Caravan Amphibian is similar to the Cessna Caravan but has floats rather than wheels. The plane has a blue highlight on the wings, bottom fuselage, and floats.

Skydiving

The Cessna Carvan Skydiving is a light blue version of the Caravan that has 2 seats on the left side that is on a platform outside of the aircraft. Due to being the only skydiving aircraft in PTFS, it is a popular option for skydiving roleplays.

Livery

The plane is full white, with a black, 3-bladed propeller.

Background

Before Cessna Caravan 208 came Cessna 206 single piston aircraft and Cessna 207 families of six and seven seat high wing single engine aircraft.

This market alone was predicted to be worth 35-45 new aircraft per year to the successful candidate. In addition to meeting the market demands- the minds at Cessna decided early on that the new design would be more adaptable if it incorporated a conversion for float and ski operations.

Cessna’s new offering was designed to be a utility aircraft to serve the remote areas of the world.

The design centered around a ten seat layout with a 62-inch-wide cabin. A 50- by 49-inch cargo door, which was split horizontally, allowed passenger entry and cargo egress. The Cessna used a revolutionary 600 hp Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A turboprop engine. Performance included a cruise speed above 175 knots and strut braced wings.

Corrosion proofing was an early basic requirement for the Caravan due to its large size restricting parking in garages.

The first flight of the engineering prototype occurred on December 9, 1982. The first big order came from overnight delivery specialist Federal Express Corporation. FedEx ordered 40 C208A Cargomasters, and incorporated many special freight-only features such as no cabin windows or starboard rear door. A six-inch vertical fin/rudder extension was designed, and the jet pipe was extended to deflect the exhaust clear of the pannier. Engineers added a composite belly cargo pod and increased the maximum-take-off-weight from 7-300 pounds to 8-000.

The Cessna Grand Caravan 208 business turboprop airplanes gained FAA certification in October 1984 and the FedEx variant entered service in 1985. FedEx’s Cargomasters had the distinction of becoming the first single-engined aircraft to achieve FAA certification for ILS Cat II conditions.

Later on, the Super Cargomaster variant included a four foot fuselage extension plug aft of the wing. The aircraft was certificated to carry a maximum payload of 3-500 lbs in its 450 cu ft of cargo cabin and the cargo pod. In 1991 the 208B model was powered by a 675 shp P&WC PT6A-114A engine. FedEx ordered 260 Super Cargomasters, and by 1986 Cessna was delivering them at the rate of three per month.[1]

Airliners are large passenger aircraft that are operated by airlines intended for carrying multiple passengers (or cargo) in commerical service. Most modern airliners have high passenger capacity though lower speeds (exception with the Concorde.)

Cargo aircraft are airplanes specifically designed and used for transporting goods and freight, rather than passengers. They typically have a larger cargo hold and are equipped with loading and unloading systems for efficient transportation of goods.

Light Aircraft are among the smallest within the game. Many of these aircraft are commonly bought by aviators wanting their own aircraft to fly.

Aircraft designed for military purposes introduced during or after 1970. These aircraft are commonly seen in modern fleets and in modern conflicts.

Aircraft designed for military purposes introduced before 1970. These aircraft were used in historical conflical conflicts like WWI, WII, Vietnam though some of these are still in active service to this day.

Amphibious aircraft are airplanes that are designed to take off and land on both land and water. They are typically equipped with floats or hulls that allow them to operate in a variety of environments, making them useful for search and rescue missions, firefighting, and military operations. To spawn and fly these aircraft, the user must have the Seaplane Package pass.

Helicopters are rotary-wing aircraft that are capable of vertical takeoff and landing, and hovering in place. They are widely used for a variety of purposes, including transportation, search and rescue, firefighting, and military operations.

These are random aircraft that don't fit within the other categories.

These aircraft possess the ability to refuel most modern military jet aircraft while in flight.

Airport ground vehicles are specialized vehicles that are used to service and maintain aircraft on the ground. They include baggage carts, fuel trucks, catering trucks, and maintenance vehicles, among others, and play a critical role in the efficient operation of airports.

These are the largest airports in game, they allow the players to spawn every aircraft in the game (exceptions with airport/location specific aircraft.) Due to their size, they're usually the airports that most players will takeoff and land at.

These airports cannot handle larger aircraft like the A380 or 747. While some of them may still be considered international airports (Paphos is technically an international airport.) They're widely regarded and seen as regional airports in most cases by the community.
